Wednesday!! (I couldn't think of a good title)

I woke up this morning and actually heard birds singing outside!!! I love it. I can't wait for spring. Today is supposed to be gorgeous and we just made plans to go to the zoo with Gina and Kenley. Madi is soo excited. She loves playing with Kenley and going to the zoo, so it will be a great afternoon. Plus we have to enjoy these 60s and 70s when we get them, it isn't supposed to be all that warm this weekend.


Madi: "We going to the zoo!?"
Me: "Yes, do you want to go with Kenley to the zoo?"
Madi: "Yeah. But I don't want to see the rhino's. Their stinky (holding her nose shut)! I don't want to go into the barn, it's got poopy in it."
Me: "Okay, we won't go into the barn this time."


Monday I took Madi to the dermatologist. She's had a dry, sore on her little toe that has been getting worse and worse. Plus she has some dry patches on the back of her knees and elbow creases. Chris had psoriasis when he was younger, so I wanted to get it checked out. She doesn't have the psoriasis but has eczema. Don't know what the difference is, but either way we have to change quite a bit of stuff around here. New fabric soap and softener, new bathing soap and lotion. She is on a steroid creme for two weeks and Vanicream everyday and after baths. She said she should grow out of it. But she isn't very good about letting me put lotion on, so she is just going to have to get over that. And of course I just stocked up on laundry detergent and softener. I'll just have to give it away, I don't want to have to store it. I wonder who I could give it too? Does the food shelter take stuff like that or maybe some kind of organization could take it? I'll have to check into that.


Our latest project has been in the works for about two weeks now and they finally finished yesterday. We had a crew come out and pour concrete in the shop at the house. It looks great and they did an awesome job. Chris is now looking into having someone come out and do spray foam on the ceiling and doing a wet pack, blown insulation on the walls. He sat down last night and drew out the building and got his materials list all made up. I'm really surprised he is finishing it as much as he is. I don't know what his grand plans are for it yet. He talked about moving all of his woodworking equipment home from the shop. That would sure free up a lot of room for him for work. I'm still debating on whether to have a birthday party for him out there this year or not. I need to make up my mind, it's only a week and half away. The big 3-0 this year!!!


I finally got some pictures taken last week. My pictures are pretty pathetic this month. Maybe I'll get some more this afternoon. Have a great rest of the week!!

8 1/2 Weeks

Went to the doctor this morning for my first appointment. So far so good. I had lab work done with lots and lots of blood taken. Still too early to hear a heartbeat, but we will get to hear it in four weeks when we go back. My due date is September 26 and the good news is that my blood pressure problems I had with Madi aren't likely to occur with the second baby, only 10% chance they will. Hopefully, I am not in that 10% and we can go full term this time. Still not feeling all that great. But as long as I keep food in my stomach, it's a little easier to bear.

Madi is feeling better. She has been getting up so early lately. And then is super crabby by 11:00 and ready for a nap. We get to pick up Wyatt from school today and she is really excited about that. And since it is nice out, we are going to stay at the school and play for awhile today. I am so tired of being stuck in the house and I think she is too. Can you believe I haven't taken a single picture this month? I need to get busy, the month is half way over!

We didn't do much this weekend. We were out tractor hunting Saturday. Doesn't that sound like fun?! Chris joined the Flywheels Museum this last week and every year at the Fall Festival they feature a different tractor. This year is Allis Chalmers and Chris wants to find one, get it restored and then take it out to the Festival. We did find that his cousin has 3 of them, but like everyone else we know who owns tractors, they just don't want to sell them!! Maybe I'll get a vacation after all, I need to find him a tractor that we need to travel a ways to get, hehe! If you know of anyone with an Allis Chalmers or know where one is sitting, please let us know. The only thing we managed to get on Saturday were colds and runny noses. It was so stinking cold Saturday.

Then on Sunday we watched the Daytona 500. Yeah...racing has started again!!! Pretty good race. Jr. made too many mistakes, again (what's new) but he did manage to cause a wreck and take out Kyle Bush, that's always fun to see!!

Sickness continued...

I'm not the only one feeling bad this week. Madi started complaining of a tummy ache Monday night and quickly went down hill. I can't believe how fast she started feeling bad. She was playing and running around one minute and the next she's telling me her tummy hurts and she is burning up. She was doing much better today, still a slight temp (according to my "high" dollar thermometer) but not really wanting to eat much the last two days. But right before bed she comes in and says her mouth hurts. I set her on the counter to give her some Motrin (because of the temp) and she throws up all over me. Ugh!!! Not the first time this week.

What is it about becoming a mom that all of a sudden others (well your children's) bodily fluids don't bother you anymore? I guess you just have to do it. Especially when your husband just sits there and watches. It's like his brain freezes and he doesn't know what to do. My yelling and barking out orders to him is the only thing that snaps him out of it. Oh well, someone has to be the leader right?:)

Yuck!!

That's how I feel, this whole last week. I can't get enough sleep and when I am awake, I feel like crap. And the worst part is, Madi is getting the raw end of the deal. I feel so awful and such a let down.

We did manage to make it to the zoo Friday. We had a fun time even though we really did have to hurry through. They are only open until 5:00, so that only gave us an hour, but still a fun time.

Chris and I also went to the CAPS auction Saturday. There were a lot of people there until shortly after noon and then it started dying off. It is definitely not an auction to go to unless you are willing to spend some bucks. Everything was going so high, which was good news for CAPS. The last count I heard was at $41,000 raised and that was with an hour left of the auction. My first baby blanket sold before we got there and went for $80 and the second one was one of the last items sold and went for $50, which Chris ended up buying.

Short and sweet this week because I need to go lay down again. Have a good week and Happy Valentine's Day on Saturday!!

Quiet Week

Phil the Groundhog saw his shadow this morning, I guess that means 6 more weeks of winter. What a drag, I am so ready for spring. I am tired of being cooped up in the house, tired of the cold weather and wind.

Not much going on around here. We did have a little excitement/scare last night. Chris was in the garage and heard sirens. We don't hear sirens out here anymore and thought it was weird. We stepped out onto the front porch and heard more sirens and radio traffic. There were a couple cars parked with their lights facing towards us to the north of the house at the intersection. Then we heard someone yell "Get down and put your hands behind your head!!" I started freaking out and we hurried into the house and turned all the lights off. I was so scared that someone was going to run and run right towards our house. I don't know what was going on. They were there for about an hour and then all cleared out. I'm assuming maybe it was a chase off the highway that ended there. That happened one other time right after we moved in. The vehicle ended up crashing and they had to airlift the people out. We missed that one though. Maybe it will be in the paper tomorrow.

The last two weeks I have been making two baby rag quilts that I am donating to be auctioned off at the CAPS auction this Saturday, 10am at Kenwood Hall. The director for CAPS and I are on the same Truancy Board and she asked if I could donate something. I remember last years auction they had quilts and I knew the rag quilts didn't take long to put together, so I said I would make two. She said last year's quilts went for $300. I am excited to see what they go for this year. It's been really nice having Carolee on the same board. She is able to offer more assistance and help us steer families in the right direction to other services in order to help get these kids to school. It's a great organization and I am glad I could help raise some funds so they can continue helping kids and families in our community. They also have some neat stuff at the auction that I hope I can bid on.

The house has been ignored this week and is a total mess, I must get busy. Have a great week!!
