Friday night we took the kids out to the lake to spend Saturday with my parents while we went on the tractor drive. This was Evan's first night not sleeping in his own bed. He had been doing really well the last couple of weeks going to sleep on his own in his bed and sleeping all night. But this last weekend kind of messed him up and it has taken all week to get back to that again. He finally slept all night again last night.
Saturday morning we got up and drove into town and was at Dauer's at 7:30. It was so cold but luckily the wind was not blowing. We sold tickets for the give away tractor as the drivers signed in. There were 23 drivers that started the drive. We left Dauer's at 9:00 and headed to Mentor and then Assaria. It was pretty neat, people were standing outside their homes and waving as we went by. It must have been a sight seeing all those tractors driving through their little town. We made our first stop at Lake Wasey (sp.?). They were also really excited to see us and even set out donuts and drinks for us. We left there and continued into Bridgeport and then over to Lindsborg. We stopped at the Old Mill Park and had a sack lunch and then toured the museum. Left the park at 1:00 and drove through town over to Bethany Home. The organizers let the home know what time we would be driving by and they had the residents out to watch us parade by. They had a lot of people out and they all seemed to really enjoy it. We then headed back out of town on Burma Road and made our next stop at Salemsborg at the church there. They set us all up to get pictures. The pastor wanted to show his congregation, mostly an older congregation, the pictures of all of us parked in front of the church. We left there and continued to Smolan. The rest of the drive went through Smolan and ended back at Dauer's. Instead of ending at Dauer's and spending the next four hours putting each tractor on the trailer and hauling them back to the house, we decided just to drive another 15 miles and take them home. We arrived at our house at 4:00. Drove back out to Dauer's to get the show tractor and our vehicles and was home at 5:00. 22 tractors finished, one tractor had to be loaded up because they just couldn't keep up. The drive was 38 miles long. And about 50 miles for us. With a total of about 6 hours on the road.
It was a long day, but so much fun. It was cold starting out but once we got going and headed south with the wind and in the sun, it really wasn't that bad. The drive home was a little colder because we were driving into the little bit of wind we had, but not unbearable. The scenery was beautiful and taking some of the back roads and going 10 mph, you really get to see a lot that you would miss zooming by in your vehicle. Plus, you have nothing else to think about, all your cares and worries just melt away. It was a wonderful experience and hopefully I can go again next year. And, I made history too! I was the first female to ever drive. Pretty cool. And next year I have to remember the sun block. I got fried, my face and tops of my hands that is, since that was all that was exposed. Ouch, I'm shedding all over my self right now, not fun.

After the drive we headed back out to the lake. We stayed another night and got up and had a Mother's Day breakfast before coming back home shortly before lunch. Worked out great and the kids were able to take a good nap and Chris and I were also able to get a short nap in. We had a very nice, lazy, quiet Mother's Day.
Tuesday Madi got to celebrate her birthday at school. She got a crown to wear and we brought treats to share. They were supposed to have a water day and get to play in the water tables and sprinkler, but it was way too cold. That evening we went back to have the kids' graduation ceremony. It was very cute. They had hats and they sang several songs. They then got their diploma and we had cookies and punch in the fellowship hall. Afterwards, we all went to Cici's and had supper. I can't believe she just finished her first year of preschool. Time sure does fly. She had a super year and of course she amazed me at how well she did. She got to make lots of new friends and learn a ton of stuff. Most of the kids will be returning next year, so it will be interesting to see who will be in her class next year again. She also had the most amazing teachers. I was very pleased.

Wednesday was also the last night of gymnastics. Which she loved!!! They start summer programs on June 7th and she's doing both sessions (8 weeks) this summer. The competitive group practices at the same time and she wants to be like the older girls and wear her hair in a pony and have glitter on her face. So we told her she has to keep practicing and she will be able to do what the older girls do one day. I'm glad she enjoyed it and wants to continue.
Evan also turned 8 months this week. Geez, talk about time flying! He is doing great and is in to everything. He is still army crawling and seems just as content as can be at getting around this way. And he does a fine job at it too. I can't keep him contained anymore. He is still growing like a weed and I can't believe how long he is. He is going to be one tall kid. I just bought his summer clothes and got 6-9 months and he is already growing out of most and I am having to get 12 months for him. Crazy!! He is eating really well and has finally mastered getting his finger foods to his mouth. He loves the bath tub and anytime I walk down the hall he starts kicking and going crazy because he thinks he's getting in the tub. After his bath Madi takes a bath and he usually makes a bee line for the bathroom after getting his pj's on to watch. He isn't pulling himself up yet but he is wanting too. Still a little wobbly on the legs when I stand him up to something. Practice, practice!!

Thursday was the last day of school. Because of a schedule conflict they had to do the graduation on Tuesday instead of Thursday. Thursday was wheel day and the kids could bring their bikes, scooters anything with wheels and they rode around the circle drive in front of the church. It was so cute and they were all having a blast. She said goodbye to her friends and teachers.

And then last night we had our potluck supper and general meeting at the Flywheels. We are getting ready for the Fall Show on October 9 and 10. Save the date and hopefully we will have better weather this year. More info later.
Next week we won't have as much running around to do with school and gymnastics over. But it will still be a busy one. I can't believe I put off getting things done for Madi's birthday party for so long. That is my week, getting the house ready, menu planned, and finish (start) making the decorations and activities for next Saturday. Looking forward to our Snow White Birthday Party!
