Basement Work

There isn't much going on right now. Chris is extremely busy at work. Madi and I are just hanging out at home.

There is still construction going on in the basement. Finally got the walls painted last week and they are finishing up the last of the drywall work in the bathroom. We should be able to paint it tonight and get the sink and toilet installed next week. I spent the morning vacuuming the downstairs floor so they could start the tile work today. And boy am I sore. They don't make shop vacs easy to use for long periods of time. I needed probably one more extender tube in order to not have to bend over so much. Oh well, it looks awesome and it's so nice to be able to walk down there and not get so dirty.

Here are some before and during pics of the basement. We put a wall up even with the concrete that is sticking out into the main room. Sure makes it seem a lot smaller. The tile down the center will be all tile in that area and in the bathroom. It's a little over half of the open area will be tile. But it will be nice to come in that back door and have it all tile and if something were to do wrong in the bathroom or the mechanical room, it will be all tile and easier to clean up. The rest of the room will be carpet and the back bedroom will be carpet. The carpet installers will be here the first week of September. It should be pretty well done by then.

We put in a suspended ceiling. Chris goes into too many homes where they want to add things in the basement and they end up having to replace a lot of drywall. And since all of our mechanicals going to the upstairs are running through the floor joists, it will be much easier to get to them if we need to. Chris got the air ducts hooked up last night and needs to install the lights and we can finish putting up the tiles.

It's coming along nicely. It's worked out great that Jon and Josh have been able to work on it, otherwise, it probably wouldn't have been done by Christmas, Chris is just way too busy at work. There will be a lot of cleaning work when they do get done. Everything that is being stored down there has about an inch of drywall dust on it, yea!
